The Chilliwack Chiefs have kept a foothold on their first place standings in the Coastal Conference, at 37 points.
Their strong showing also has them third in the BCHL overall, with the Brooks Bandits and the Penticton Vees tied at 40 points as of Dec. 10.
Chiefs Captain Mateo Mrsic is also heading into the weekend tied for the most goals scored in the BCHL with 20 in 25 games. He's tied with Rasmus Svartström of the Cranbrook Bucks.
The Chiefs will meet the Powell River Kings for two away games this weekend, before taking time off for the Christmas holidays. After that, they're back at the Coliseum on Dec. 27 (Victoria) and Dec. 29 (Langley).
The Chiefs have also just signed 2006-born forward Connor Arsenault. Arsenault, a 6’2 left-hand shot, comes to the Chiefs after starting his season with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL. He's committed to Cornell.
“We are really happy to add Connor to our group. He is a big body with skill and someone who we have been watching closely dating back to his days at St. Andrew’s,” said head coach and GM Brian Maloney, “He will be counted on immediately to help our group achieve our goals this season.”
“I’m extremely excited to join the Chiefs family," said Arsenault. "The organization has done a great job developing and moving players to the next level, and I’m eager to be apart of it. I’m looking forward to meeting the team and staff and get things rolling”
