The Chilliwack Chiefs have added depth at their blue line, signing American-born Price Grimes out of Greenville, South Carolina ahead of the upcoming season.
The 6-foot-2 defenceman bounced around various Midwest teams throughout his minor hockey career, spending time in the T1EHL and HPHL leagues. Grimes then joined the Chicago Steel of the USHL for the 2023-2024 season where he collected six points and 48 penalty minutes in 41 games played during his rookie campaign.
The Chiefs opted to bring in the 18-year-old, believing Grimes is a player with significant potential.
“Price is a player we are really excited about in terms of the level he can get to as a player,” said Chiefs head coach Brian Maloney. “He is a big body but moves really well and has some snarl to his game which we certainly appreciate. He also has a really solid skill base and we believe that he is just getting started on his development curve.
“Really good day for our group and an exciting one for our fans with us adding a player like Price.”
Grimes has committed to play for the University of New Hampshire Division-1 hockey team for 2025-2026, but is looking forward to the prospect of further developing his game in the BCHL.
“I am super excited to be playing in the BCHL with so many elite players,” said Grimes. “I look forward to becoming a part of the community, and to being associated with an organization like the Chiefs that focus on development and moving players on to the next level.”
