The Chilliwack Chiefs have a busy week ahead, including a two away games on Vancouver Island.

The Chiefs have a busy stretch starting this Friday (March 14), with five games on the calendar over nine days.

This weekend starts with an away game at Langley's George Preston Arena. The Chiefs are back home on Saturday, with a 6 p.m. puck drop against the Surrey Eagles.

There are a couple of exciting notes for the weekend's games, says Barry Douglas, governer and vice president of the Chiefs. Defenseman Hunter McInnes is expected back in the lineup this weekend. He's one of the top defensemen in the BCHL, but has missed a few months of play due to an injury.

This Saturday is also Special Olympics Chilliwack Night, Douglas said.

"We are recognizing our local Special Olympic floor hockey athletes and coaches," he said. "During the season, our Chiefs players have played floor hockey with them every Tuesday night."

The team is on Vancouver Island through the week, with games in Victoria and Cowichan. They'll return to the Coliseum March 22 for a game against the Prince George Spruce Kings.

After that, there are just two more games this month, a home game March 28 (Victoria) and an away game March 29 (Langley).

The Chiefs have had an exceptional season and easily clinched their spot in the playoffs, racking up 30 wins of 47 games played to date. They've been sitting at the top of the Coastal Conference stats for most of the season, and are currently fourth in the BCHL.
