Shred-A-Thon to help cut down on clutter for Chilliwack residents

Anyone in Chilliwack holding on to a few boxes of paper clutter in need of shredding?

The City of Chilliwack is hosting its semi-annual Shred-A-Thon and Food Drive, on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Residents can roll up with up to a maximum of 10 banker-size boxes of shredding material to the event, and donate to the local food bank at the same time.

Donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank will be graciously accepted, either cash donations or non-perishable food items. Residents can donate directly to the Sally Ann so they can continue their programs. https://www.salvationarmychilliwack.ca/

Donations are not mandatory to participate in the Shred-A-Thon, however.

Anyone with more than 10 banker boxes of material please hold off until the next Shred-A-Thon event or use any of the retailer shredding services listed below:

• UPS Store (8 - 6014 Vedder Rd,

• UPS Store (Southgate Shopping Centre, 9 - 45905 Yale Rd,

• Staples (#101 - 7491 Vedder Road

Materials being handed in for shredding have to be free of plastics covers, bindings, combs, with all metal, fasteners, staples and/or paper clips removed.

The Shred-A-Thon runs Dec. 2, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Chilliwack Coliseum parking lot off Ashwell Road.
