There are three Remembrance Day ceremonies that take place throughout Chilliwack on the morning of Nov. 11.
The downtown process and ceremony is held at Veterans Memorial Park, at the cenotaph located behind the Chilliwack Museum (45820 Spadina Ave.) A procession will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Hall, with veterans, local cadet groups and others making their way to the cenotaph. The ceremony will begin immediately upon their arrival, with a moment of silence at 11 a.m.
There is also a procession and ceremony at All Sappers Memorial Park (5571 Vedder Rd.) The procession for that ceremony will begin at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #295 (5661 Vedder Rd.) at 10:30 am with the ceremony immediately following at the cenotaph, and a moment of silence at 11 a.m.
There will be full and partial road closures surrounding both cenotaphs on Nov. 11. The closures will begin at 7:30 a.m. close to the downtown cenotaph, as crews will be setting up seating. The procession route will close at 9 a.m.
There will be road closures at All Sappers Memorial starting at 9 a.m., with a detour in place.
All roads at both locations will be re-open by 1 p.m. See maps of the routes and road closures in this story (below) provided by the City of Chilliwack.
