The Chilliwack school board will be hosting a more informal kind of meeting April 22, focusing on the school district's budget for the next academic year.

The rules will be slightly relaxed for the meeting, which include a presentation by Mark Friesen, the district's assistant secretary treasurer. There will be opportunities for the public to ask questions about the budget process, whether they are present at the meeting or watching a livestream on YouTube.

In-person attendees may submit written questions on paper provided at the meeting, the district has stated. And while the comment function is normally disabled for district videos on YouTube, they will be enabling it allow for real-time questions and answers during the presentation. District staff asks that viewers and in-person attendees include their name, the slide number the question refers to, and the question.

Staff will respond to as many questions as possible during the meeting. If your question is not answered during the presentation, or if you have additional comments, please email: letstalksd33@sd33.bc.ca.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m., and space is limited in the boardroom.

That presentation will be followed by the regular monthly board meeting at 6:30 p.m., which is also open to the public and livestreamed. Action items on the regular meeting agenda are (up to) three readings the 2025-2026 capital plan bylaw, an amendment to policy 600 (financial planning and reporting) and a property disposal bylaw reading relating to two portables being sold to the Stó:lō Service Agency Society for one dollar.
