A power outage happened in the Chilliwack Eastern Hillsides at about 6 p.m. Oct. 19, due to a mudslide.

Crews were responding to downed power lines in Chilliwack's Eastern Hillsides Saturday evening (Oct. 19) following a full day of heavy rain in the region.

About 480 customers are affected by the power outage, and emergency crews arrived to find that a mudslide had taken down at least one power pole, with a hydro line on the ground. BC Hydro is aware of the situation and crews were en route as of 7 p.m.

Emergency crews were set up near the eastern end of Prairie Central Road.
