Mobile mammography is coming to Chilliwack for eight days at two locations to help improve access to screening.

"Most women, and many Two-Spirit, trans and nonbinary people ages 40+ can book a free mammogram while we're in town," according to the online message from the BC Cancer Screening.

Screening is performed in a private space, using state-of-the-art equipment in a comfortable vehicle BC Cancer calls a "digital mammography coach."

The signage on the vehicle make it clear: "Screening saves lives."

"The vehicles include a reception area, dressing area, and mammography examination room. The coaches are also equipped with a wheelchair lift."

The vehicle will be parked at two Chilliwack locations:

• 8550 Young Road - (Chilliwack City Hall) Dec. 2-6;

• 9291 Corbould St (Evergreen Hall) Nov. 25-27.

To book an appointment 1-800-663-9203 is the best way, since the online booking service is temporarily unavailable.

"The disruption to Canada Post services means we can’t send you mailed reminder and result letters," BC Cancer said online. "Your reminder and result letters will be sent out once postal services resume."

For screening results, contact health care providers.
