Lawyer Dan Grice is throwing his name in the ring as an independent candidate in Chilliwack North as someone "sick of partisan politics" on the left and right, he announced in a release Sept. 12.
Grice, a parent of two children in Chilliwack schools, said he's running in next month's provincial election in frustration over the BC NDP's plan "to abolish the law society and its ongoing attack on professional independence."
It was also the lack of "a moderate alternative" on the local ballot in the new electoral riding of Chilliwack North that led the business and real estate lawyer to run for an MLA seat.
He said he also opposes the BC Conservative's threats to slash university funding, censor high school teachers and endanger vulnerable students by banning anti-bullying programs.
Prior to being called to the bar, Grill "acted as an electoral reform organizer" and has co-authored papers for Elections Canada.
He also has experience working for a family software development firm and sold computer servers.
Grice posted campaign videos and information on YouTube and on his website at elect.dangrice.com
