Hundreds showed up to take part in an organized Polar Bear Plunge at Cultus Lake, near Chilliwack for New Year's Day.

The event was organized as a fundraiser for Hope's Heather Chest, which is operated by the Soroptimist International of Chilliwack. Members of the organization sold hot chocolate and stickers by donation before and after the swim.

Most of the swimmers ran into the lake at Main Beach as a crowd, but a handful jumped off various parts of the dock.

While the organized event took place at 2 p.m., cold dippers were seen jumping off docks all along Cultus Lake throughout the day, being cheered on by family and friends, and some even warming themselves by campfires on the beaches.
