'Hope for the Hope Slough' centred on slough restoration in Chilliwack

Water quality testing is ongoing at 36 sites in the Hope Slough by the Pelolxw Nations and the restoration project Shxwelístexw te Sqwá:la - Care for the Life Spirit of Hope Slough.

Hope for the Hope Slough is an open-house event focused on slough restoration on Oct. 23 at Camp River Hall.

"Whether you live by the slough or just want to learn more about how to help salmon in Chilliwack, come for an evening of dessert and learning on October 23!" according to the online invitation from the Pelolxw nations and their restoration project Shxwelístexw te Sqwá:la - Care for the Life Spirit of Hope Slough.

This free event offers attendees a chance to learn something about slough history, Pelolxw culture and traditional usage, current issues, restoration work and future plans.

"We will close the evening with a short presentation and question period. All are welcome!"

This event is sponsored by the Pelolxw nations and the restoration project Shxwelístexw te Sqwá:la - Care for the Life Spirit of Hope Slough.

The slough restoration project along the Hope Slough is being undertaken by three local communities, Xwchíyò:m (Cheam), Sqwa (Skwah) and Shxwha:y (Skway) First Nations.
