Two men are facing Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 charges after stealing a pickup truck, trailer, and glider plane from the Hope airport Monday morning (May 20).
‘This was a great effort by the Hope RCMP members that ended with a positive outcome,” said Sgt. Mike Sargent of the Hope RCMP. “It also demonstrates the importance of reporting suspicious activity in the community and how making these reports can help police solve crime.”
According to Hope RCMP, police were on scene Monday evening after receiving a report of a pickup truck driving erratically in the 62400 block of Highway 1. Upon locating the vehicle, RCMP were able to confirm that it matched the description of the stolen vehicle which had been used by the thieves to smash through the airport’s metal gate.
After finding the pickup, RCMP discovered the trailer and plane hidden in the forest beside the highway.
The truck, trailer, and plane have all been returned to their owner.
