Emergency crews were called to Prest Road for a hazmat incident on Tuesday where a liquid chemical was leaking from a vehicle.

The call came in as a "full hazmat" situation shortly after 11 a.m. near Prairie Central Road on Aug. 13.

Initial reports were that a liquid chemical was leaking from a truck. There were 3,700 litres of the chemical on the truck and it was eating through aluminum. Emergency crews stated the driver of the vehicle was feeling sick.

When crews with the Chilliwack Fire Department arrived on scene, they stated that people on the property had stopped the liquid from coming out of the truck and that the spill was contained.

Paramedics and RCMP also responded to the scene.

There was no cause for airborne pollution, according to crews on scene.
