A Chilliwack medical office building on Hodgins Avenue was damaged by fire Sunday (June 16), just before noon.
Chilliwack Fire Chief Andy Brown said that 30 firefighters from across Halls 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 responded to the fire. When they arrived, there was visible smoke at the back of the building.
"Upon further investigation it was determined that cedar hedging and landscaping on the exterior of the building had caught fire and the fire had extended up the wood siding of the structure," he said in a press release Monday morning. "The incident commander called for a second alarm, and crews quickly began an offensive fire attack while securing a water supply to bring the fire under control."
The fire was able to be contained to the exterior of the building, which suffered minor fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and nobody was injured in the fire.
The building is directly across from the Chilliwack General Hospital, with multiple medical and dental offices inside.
