It's time to talk turkey about driving and parking downtown with an eye to making improvements.
The City of Chilliwack is seeking opinions during the month of June about the parking and transportation situation from residents and businesses with a survey.
"We want to hear from you about how to improve your transportation experience in the downtown core," said the online info about the survey project.
District 1881 is nearing completion with the number of businesses still on the rise, and many new residents choosing to make the downtown core home.
"We’re looking for direction from the people who live, work, eat, and play downtown about reducing their barriers to get there and stay there," said the city info.
The project will look at the existing parking spaces, and those needed in the future, and create a plan for how to manage them.
The city hired a consultant to help and they will be reviewing:
• Supply and use of parking on a typical weekday/ weekend;
• Areas of downtown with greatest and future demand for travel trips and parking;
• How changing transportation may affect short-term and long-term parking demand;
• Parking enforcement practices.
"Your voices and experiences are incredibly important to help us determine what works and where we can improve. Thank you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts!"
