Chilliwack Farm Story project launches to celebrate local agriculture

Farmers in Chilliwack will be telling their own stories through new project

Chilliwack farmers are telling their own stories, thanks to a new initiative involving multiple partners.

The Chilliwack Farm Story Project officially launched in May, bringing to life the stories of the farmers, innovators, and community leaders shaping the region’s
agricultural industry.

This initiative will highlight the values of sustainability, food security, animal welfare, and innovation through storytelling, photography, resource sharing and blog posts found on the Farm Story website, also known as the Agricultural Hub. Through this website, the public will be able to hear about farming issues from the farmers directly.

The project aims to build public trust, foster connections, and promote the importance of local agriculture. Key partners of the project are the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Chilliwack, and Chilliwack Economic Partners, and it's sponsored by Southern Irrigation, Scotia Bank, Waterstone Law Group, and Culture Co.

For 2025, the Chilliwack Farm Story will highlight Rainbow Greenhouses, Creekside Creamery, Brightside Eggs, Greendale Acres, Van Santen Corn, Quiks Farm and Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry. Readers will get a mix of farmer spotlights that showcase the dedication behind Chilliwack's farms, and stories about innovative practices, exploring sustainability and technology in agriculture.

The project will also be a way to support agritourism experiences, helping farms connect the public to events and tours that are taking place at their farms.

The Chilliwack Farm Story Project is about more than farming, the chamber noted in a press release about its launch. It’s about people, partnerships, and the future of agriculture.

"By sharing these stories, we aim to strengthen community ties, connect the consumer and celebrate the incredible work being done across our region," they said.
