The Barn Burner Barbecue and Car Show will feature up to 100 vehicles, with entry fees going to Ruth and Naomi’s Mission.

Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry is ready to celebrate the midway point of the summer with the return of their Barn Burner Barbecue and Car Show.

“We’re going to have a lot of different things going on that day,” said events manager Karen Ketting-Olivier. “We want people to come down, get your food, and enjoy the day.”

The event is running on Saturday (July 27) and is set to feature some ice-cold drinks, a coffee truck, a kids zone – which includes face-painting, a climbing wall and a mechanical bull – and of course many different types of barbecued food.

“There’s four different groups of us that are going to be barbecuing and serving our own product,” said Ketting-Olivier. “All of the proceeds are then being donated to Ruth and Naomi’s Mission.”

They’re also going to be hosting a car show throughout the day, with Ketting-Olivier expecting a lineup of close to 100 cars, with registration proceeds once again going to Ruth and Naomi’s.

The event returns after a hiatus of four years with the last Barn Burner being run in summer of 2019. But unlike previous renditions, this one is not a barbecuing competition.

“Previously it was more of an intense competition and people lined up for their sampling,” explained Ketting-Olivier. “But this one is more of an enjoyable event, no pressure.”

On top of drinks, food and some pretty cool cars, event go-ers will be treated to some live entertainment with a stage being set up for local musical talent.

“I know there’s a lot going on that weekend but come on down and have some fun,” said Ketting-Olivier. “There'll be something for everyone.”

The Barn Burner will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Farm Store at 4540 Simmons Rd.
