Further drugs and weapons charges are pending against two Chilliwack suspects after more drugs and firearms were seized from a Chilliwack residence on Garden Drive.

“As a result of this complex and prolonged investigation,” the two are facing more charges, according to Insp. Jeff Bowerman of Upper Fraser Valley RCMP detachment in a release on Oct. 26.

It was the search warrants obtained by officers that ultimately allowed RCMP to take “guns and drugs off” the streets of Chilliwack, he said.

Alan Boyarski, 44, of Chilliwack, is facing three new counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Karly Bonnet, 33 of Chilliwack was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, as well as one count of possessing a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, and one count of possessing a firearm with serial number altered or removed.

It was in the spring of 2022 that local drug section officers were searching a vehicle and a residence, and ended up seizing a cache of drugs, including what they suspected was cocaine and fentanyl as well as a loaded firearm.

Following arrests and seizures in June 2022, police continued to gather evidence against the same suspects, and as a result, search warrants were executed at the same Garden Drive residence and the same 44-year-old man and 33-year-old woman were once again arrested.

The search warrants executed in March and June 2023 saw police seizing cash, suspected fentanyl and cocaine, two long guns, two hand guns with ammunition, two bulletproof vests, along with trafficking paraphernalia such as drug scales and packaging.

“Chilliwack RCMP Drug Section remains committed to disrupting illegal drug trafficking in our community,” the officer said.

These offences occurred almost exactly one year to the day of the 2022 arrests and seizures.

“These offenders now face multiple counts of drug trafficking, and the search warrants have allowed us to take guns and drugs off of our city’s streets,” Bowerman said.

Anyone with information on organized crime activity or drug trafficking, is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP Drug Section at (604) 792-4611 or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
