Towering sunflowers are back in Chilliwack for an annual summer festival.
The colourful and vibrant Botanica Sunflower Festival opens on Saturday, Aug. 17.
"After a year of rest, this newly reimagined event is set to bloom again," organizers announced. "The Fraser Valley’s brightest sunflower festival will welcome visitors from the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and beyond for an experience where guests can explore the pathways, sunflower fields and other must-see attractions in a charming country setting."
Planted in a unique sunshine shape, the main field is full of winding pathways featuring more than 40 varieties of sunflowers. There are other late-summer blooms like dahlias, gladiolus, zinnias, and cosmos as well.
There's also a u-pick garden and colour-themed hidden rooms nestled within the cornfield.
The Pauls family, which organizes the Botanica Sunflower Festival, is a multi-generational Chilliwack farming family and the previous co-hosts of the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival. They also hosted the Botanica Tulip Festival in the spring.
