Funnymen back in Chilliwack for fall comedy show

Patrick Maliha, Steve McGowan return for Fraser Valley Comedy event at Chilliwack Cultural Centre

Fraser Valley Comedy will be kicking off the fall season with some familiar faces later this month at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.

Headliner Patrick Maliha will be back in town on Friday, Sept. 20 for a night of comedy on the Rotary Hall Studio Theatre stage. The show will feature Steve McGowan, also returning to Chilliwack.

Maliha's act has been described as Ray Romano meets a 21st century Don Rickles. The Vancouver-based professional stand-up comedian and impressionist has headlined and emceed various shows at a multitude of comedy clubs, festivals and corporate events in Canada, the U.S. and beyond. Currently, he is the world record holder for most impressions in one minute beating out the previous record holder, former SNL’er Dana Carvey and can be heard on Roundhouse Radio for his weekly segment Some Advice with your Agony Uncle, Patrick Maliha.

Maliha has been featured on CBC radio, XM and Sirius satellite radio’s various comedy programs. He broke through the television barrier with his stand-up in 2011 when he was featured on Bite TV’s Stand-Up and Bite Me and his one-hour Comedy Now special aired on CTV and The Comedy Network.

McGowan combines storytelling with crowd work making him a favourite with audiences across Canada. For years, his hyper and cheeky onstage rage has made him a fantastic comedic presence.

His debut comedy album released in 2022 called Pleasantly Offensive is available on all platforms. He has opened for Jon Dore, Dave Foley, Rory Scovel, Chappelle's Show's Donell Rawlings, Iliza Shlesinger, Ian Bagg, Dave Coulier, Tony Rock and more.

The show is hosted by Yo Trieu, and also includes special performances by Luci Ana, and First Nations comic Keith Nahanee.

Other shows Fraser Valley Comedy has scheduled for this year include: Sept. 27 and Oct. 26 at Corky's Irish Pub, and Nov. 15 at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.

Fraser Valley Comedy presents Patrick Maliha and Steve McGowan on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre inside the Rotary Hall Studio Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $37 and available at the Centre Box Office, by calling 604-391-SHOW (7469) or online at www.chilliwackculturalcentre.ca/ccc-event/patrick-maliha-and-steve-mcgowan.
