Zach Power leads his choir through rehearsal. The public is welcome to hear them sing during an evensong service on Sunday, April 27 at 7 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Church.

The director of a Chilliwack choir is inviting the public to an evening of "reflection, contemplation, and beautiful choral music."

The new ensemble, which does not have a name, will be singing music for an evensong service on Sunday, April 27 at 7 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Church.

It was started by Zach Power, a Chilliwack music director and school music teacher, and the choir features local experienced singers that provide music for the Anglican service once a month. This will be their third event following two successful services in February and March, he said.

Each month features different sets of repertoire.

"Most of the service consists of music provided by the choir, and people often find that it is a favourite way to wind down after a busy day: come sit, reflect, and enjoy the music," Power said. "It has become very popular with young adults in England and in larger Canadian cities, and is open for anyone to come and enjoy, whether Anglican, Christian, of a different faith, or of no religion."

The event is free and everyone is welcome. St. John's Anglican Church is located at 46098 Higginson Rd.

Any experienced singers who are comfortable learning music on their own and want to join the choir can contact him at zacharypower.music@gmail.com.
