The African Children's Choir will be performing in Chilliwack on March 12.

The African Children’s Choir is marking its 40th year with a free concert in Chilliwack, and other cities.

The Langley-based group will be singing popular children’s tunes, traditional spiritual songs and vibrant African cultural pieces on March 12 at Unity Christian School.

The chorus comprises children aged eight to 11, all from vulnerable backgrounds across Africa. Each child has faced significant hardship, often with limited access to education. Yet, through the choir, they gain life-changing opportunities for education and personal growth.

“The African Children’s Choir proves just how powerful music can be,” said choir manager Tina Sipp. “These concerts not only provide hope and encouragement to our audiences, but they offer the children life-changing experiences that help shape them into future leaders.”

The choir is in Chilliwack on Wednesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at Unity Christian School (50950 Hack Brown Rd.). No tickets are required, though donations are appreciated to continue the choir’s work.

They also perform in Surrey on March 7, Langley (March 9), Vancouver (March 14) and Maple Ridge (March 16).
