A folk musician will once again be bringing his sombre concert to a Chilliwack stage this holiday season.

A Very Subdued Christmas with Robert Sarazin Blake is at Bozzini's Upstairs Lounge on Dec. 21.

"We were so blown away not only by the response to Robert's show, but by the performance as well last year that we are bringing him back again to get everybody, or keep everybody, in the spirit right before the holidays," said Bozzini's owner Emmanuel Asprakis.

Since 2008, Blake has presented A Very Subdued Christmas – a concert of songs and stories that have something to do with the holiday season in. The concert is named after the Subdued Stringband Jamboree that he organizes every year in Bellingham, Wash.

In 1997 he dropped out of college and hit the road. The folk music of his father’s house had combined with the DIY punk ethos of the day and produced his first album, ‘Another Irrelevant Year.’ For three decades, Blake toured across the US, Canada, Ireland, Germany, and beyond performing concerts to small groups of people in small rooms.

Blake released his 12th album ‘Recitative’ in 2017 which earned an A- from Robert Christgau, known as the 'Dean of American Rock Critics.' A new full-length album was released in the fall of 2024, and his latest single 'Don't Use Our Death And Pain' is a cry to end the violence in Gaza.

A Very Subdued Christmas with Robert Sarazin Blake (it's is not really all that subdued) is at Bozzini's on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 9 p.m., doors open at 8 p.m. It is suitable for kids and adults of all ages. Tickets $25.50 at Bozzini’s or call 604-792-0744 to reserve.
