Drug recovery begins with the addict

Well, Mr. Wayne Underhill, as you state in your letter, “write a letter.” So here I am.

Obviously, you must have very deep pockets. I don’t; I’m a retired senior on the fabulous government pension.

I don’t ever remember hearing about a druggie being forced into being an addict. They do it on their own free will, just like a lot of people, young and old, who have made mistakes.

So what you’re saying is only druggies should be looked after? What about gamblers, alcoholics, people who lose everything on the stock market? Lots of “good” people make the wrong choices, but you’re saying they don’t count. Really considerate of you.

I took a really bad hit – more than once – on the stock market, but nobody came and helped me.

I also used to drink too much, until “I” decided, enough. My father was an alcoholic. I don’t remember any “safe sites” being set up for him. We, the family, were finally able to get him to dry out at our own expense.

So, Mr. Underhill, dig in your own pocket and buy them some mirrors so they can look at the problem themselves, because until “they” decide, you’re wasting your time.

And don’t bother coming to me for any support. They made the decision.
