Skawahlook First Nation celebrates Easter with first annual egg hunt

Egg Hunt coincides with opening of Syéx̱ w Chó:leqw Adventure Park's new treehouse

The Easter bunny is making the hop to Skawahlook First nation near Hope.

Locals looking for something to do this Easter weekend are welcome to join Skawahlook for their first ever Easter Egg Hunt at Syéx̱ w Chó:leqw Adventure Park. Taking place on April 19 throughout the morning and afternoon, families are invited to hunt for eggs along the five-kilometre long walking and biking trails. The hunt, which gives people the chance to explore the area, coincides with the opening of the park's "newly installed two-and-a-half storey treehouse, featuring three slides, a telescope and a variety of climbing and ladder features."

“We are so pleased that people have been using the park regularly, and that the playground is an ongoing attraction for schools, daycare centres, and parents to gather with their children,” said Managing Director Sharron Young. “Spinning this off into more specific events is a natural part of continuing to make the park a great spot for all of us who live and play in S’olh Temexw (the Halqemeylem word for the Sto:lo territory).

“We are also excited that the tree house is now open as it took a month to install. And there were a lot of curious onlookers and social media posts wondering when it would be ready. We are happy to let people know they can use it now and, of course, we expect it to be a big feature for the kids."

Children who attend will receive a "well-filled gift bag." Special prizes can also be won for those who find golden eggs hidden on the trails.

Additionally, the Easter Bunny will be on-site and refreshments, of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and water, will be provided.

Tickets for the hunt are $5 and limited to 200 children and 200 accompanying adults. And tickets are still available for three time slots: 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., and 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Tickets can only be purchases online through EventBrite at www.eventbrite.ca/e/easter-egg-hunt-2025-tickets-1246325215269. For more information about the event, readers can call 604-796-9129.
