Impaired driver faces charges after striking power pole in Abbotsford

Driver provided breath sample 2.5 times higher than legal limit, police say

An impaired driver struck a power pole in Abbotsford on Saturday night (April 5), police say. 

According to a social media post from the Abbotsford Police Department on Sunday (April 6), the crash occurred at the intersection of South Fraser Way and Hill Tout Street. 

Police say the driver was arrested after fleeing on foot and is facing several criminal charges. Per the release, the driver provided a breath sample more than double the legal limit. 

No one was injured in the collision. 

Overall, 14 impaired drivers were taken off the road in Abbotsford on Saturday night. 

"Enforcement of impaired driving will continue to be a priority for us," police said.
