World renowned pianist brings classical music to Chilliwack Cultural Centre

World renowned pianist Elias-Axel Pettersson will explore the music of Mozart, Liszt and Chopin in The Secret Life of Music.

He’ll be performing at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Dec. 10 and will not only perform the music of these legendary composers, but also guide listeners through their lives and the meaning their music holds.

From the way Mozart expertly conjured mystery with his mini opera, to how Liszt translated his passionate reaction to 14th century poet Petrarch into sound, to how Chopin drew Poland in all its glory using the bones of a failed revolution, the depths of their music will be showcased in this captivating performance.

Having established himself as a formidable soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue, Pettersson is hailed for his breathtaking virtuosity and ability to bring the music he performs to life. Alongside his performances, he is also a frequent lecturer and masterclass teacher who is known for being conscientious, patient and a motivational guide through student’s musical journey.

The Secret Life of Music with pianist Elias-Axel Pettersson, presented by the Chilliwack Academy of Music, is at the Cultural Centre on Friday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. Tickets $20 to $27 and available at the Centre Box Office, online at www.chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469).

Pettersson will also be teaching a masterclasses on Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. Tickets range in price and there are discounts when buying tickets to both the concert and masterclass.
