A heaping helping of east coast folk is coming to Harrison Hot Springs for another round.

Rum Ragged returns to Harrison as part of the Season of Performing Arts on Friday, March 21 at Memorial Hall (290 Esplanade Ave.). The Newfoundland quartet bring their own Maritime twist to folk music, playing the bouzouki, fiddle, bodhran, banjo, guitar and button accordion to blend tradition with something entirely new.

If the name "Rum Ragged" rings a bell, you may have seen them in recent outings to Harrison Hot Springs. They performed at the 2023 Harrison Festival of the Arts and during the Season of Performing Arts that November.

Rum Ragged is Aaron Collis (vocals/accordion), Mark Manning (vocals/guitar), Colin Grant (fiddle) and Zack Nash (multiple instruments). The band formed in 2016 in Newfoundland with founding members Collis and Manning. They were nominated for a Juno award in 2021 and have five studio albums. The latest album is Gone Jiggin', which was released in 2024.

Following the Harrison show, Rum Ragged sets sail for Vancouver, playing at the Rogue Folk Club before heading to Alberta and Saskatchewan until mid-April.

Tickets are now available online at harrisonfestival.com, in person at the Ranger Station Art Gallery (98 Rockwell Dr.) and by phone at 604-796-3664. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. but doors open at 6:30 p.m. A bar and concession will be available, and the show will consist of two 45-minute sets with a short intermission.

The Season of Performing Arts is a series of eight to 10 performances September through May, leading up to the apex of the local arts season – The Harrison Festival of the Arts.
