The organizers of the Chilliwack Music and Dance Festival are looking for volunteers and sponsors, and are inviting people to register for their upcoming competition in 2024.
The 77th annual festival runs Feb. 15 to March 15, 2024 at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.
The registration deadline for all dance and music entries (except for band and choir) is Dec. 1. The deadline to register for choir and band is Jan. 20.
There are two new festival registrars this year. Allison Frost is the dance registrar while Tabea Hall is the music registrar.
Both have been involved with the festival before taking on these new responsibilities.
“They come with a vast knowledge of everything from competition, provincial competition, and helping out in various positions as well,” said Laurie Hirschman, lead registrar with the festival.
This year, they are moving away from the printed competition program and going to PDF program only. As such, they are looking for sponsors, both individuals and businesses, for various genres of the festival to help offset costs and keep the entry rates as low as possible.
They also need volunteers.
“As per normal, we are always looking for volunteers for in-house help and at the door. We especially are still looking for a couple more adults backstage in dance,” Hirschman said.
