As part of the Open Mic Showcase at Tractorgrease, Leila Neverland will be kicking things off on Friday.

This Okanagan-based musician can’t help but let it all out. With a voice as powerful as a tumbling mountain, and a soul so full of love it flows like a river, its surprising it all comes in such a small package. Each performance of her original music is a unique and awe-inspiring telling of life, love, and revolution.

Speaking to indigenous perspectives of resilience, Neverland sheds light on timely issues with careful and captivating use of storytelling, poetry, piano, voice, and vocal looping.

Neverland will return in early winter with a release of the band’s first album. Her next few shows will be her last as a solo artist. She will have her current album Ten Shades of Leila on hand, a retrospect of her previous decade in music.

Leila Neverland is a pianist, vocalist and composer. She performs Friday, Aug. 25 at Tractorgrease Cafe (48710 Chilliwack Lake Rd.) at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
