In 2015, Bradford Loomis made his Canadian debut at Bozzini’s Upstairs Lounge in front of a sold-out audience, and on Jan. 14 he will be returning to Chilliwack.

Loomis of Marysville, Washington marries grit and melody to dig to the roots of American folklore and speak of the raw reality of the human condition with passion.

His stories span several lifetimes of relatable emotions; bitterness and loss, deep longing and regret, enduring hope and love, elation and joy.

Through years of choir, band and orchestra he discovered a powerful kinship to the songs and stories of bygone eras as they helped show him a meaningful way to tell his story. His influences include the Civil Wars, the Swell Season, Johnny Cash, and ‘T Bone’ Burnett.

Upon learning recently that his father was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease, Loomis starting laying the ground work for this new album, Bravery and the Bell, (releasing March 24) which is all about standing with courage against our fears, our faults and our flaws that prevent us from truly living. It’s about deciding to embrace vulnerability, choosing to see those around us, flaws and all and being brave enough to love them anyways.

Bradford Loomis performs at Bozzini’s Upstairs Lounge on Saturday, Jan. 14. Doors open at 8 p.m., show is at 9:30 p.m. Tickets $16 at Bozzini’s, or call 604-792-0744 to reserve by phone.
