Harmonica master Keith Bennett and top tier guitarist David Sinclair will be combining their collective breadth and depth to present a rootsy blend of blues, jazz, and folk, on Saturday in the Harrison Memorial Hall.

This will be the final show of the Harrison Festival Season of the Performing Arts.

Both Sinclair and Bennett have extensive backgrounds as solo artists, sidemen, and studio musicians.

Sinclair is well known for his work with kd Lang and his decade long role as Sarah McLachlan’s guitarist, as well as being a first call session player who has performed on more albums than anyone has been able to count, including with Michael Buble and Rita MacNeil.

Bennett is a multifaceted player who has composed and played on film and TV scores, and has performed with the VSO. He was also a top ten finalist at the World Harmonica championships in Germany and is an excellent guitar player and singer as well. The two have an obvious personal and musical chemistry that, combined with their strong musicianship and experience, will surely make for an engaging evening of acoustic music.

“Keith and David performed at our 2016 Harrison Festival of the Arts, and proved to be one of the most talked about acts of the fest, so we immediately wanted to get them back,” says artistic director Andy Hillhouse. “People really responded to the quality of their playing and singing — their depth really shows.”

In their show, both musicians share lead singing duties, while they intersperse songs with rocking instrumentals, featuring Sinclair’s percussive acoustic guitar playing and Bennett’s soaring chromatic harmonica.

Their set is diverse and engaging, with both original tunes and wild arrangements of songs by the likes of Benny Goodman, Django Rheinhardt, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, and Irving Berlin. These two masterful musicians have released one album together entitled Alchemy, hinting at the special chemistry they have onstage together.

Keith Bennett and David Sinclair perform Saturday, April 29 at 8 p.m. at Harrison Memorial Hall.
