Bust out of a dry summer and into a season full of laughs with Fraser Valley Comedy’s (FVC) Jest Ladies event.

“Jest Ladies Comedy is Fraser Valley Comedy’s top draw,” said founder, Yo Trieu. “The event is always sold out and the venue is packed (because) the energy is so positive and the female comics are always professional and hilarious.”

And although the event focus is the ladies, Trieu says it’s an event for all. “We get a lot of males watching the event, also.”

Hosted at 8 p.m. by Oli Maughan at the Silver Chalice in Hope on Friday, Sept. 14, and again at the Wellington Local House in Chilliwack on Saturday, Sept. 15, Trieu says the night will be packed with rolling laughter because Maughan is a quintessential modern lady with her eye and finger on the pulse of the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland.

He adds there will also be special performances by Alannah Brittany, CJ Milne, Lydia Rickards, Katrina Bennett, Rachel Schaefer, Jenny Russell, Cari Norton Moore and Helena Paul.

This is also the perfect time to get your laughs in, says Trieu, because FVC has a busy few months ahead.

During “the summer we (were) quiet,” Trieu continued. But now we’re getting ready for the “month of October (which) will be the comedy festival and November and December will be mostly private corporate events.”

Tickets are $15 at the door (cash or Square payments only), which opens at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 8. And as it’s festival-style seating, Trieu recommends arriving early to secure your favourite seat. Food and drinks will be available.
