Sardis secondary presents fundraiser concert, An Evening of Jazz, on March 8.
The concert will raise money to help send music students on a three-day trip to Victoria in the spring.
An Evening of Jazz will feature performances by the Sardis jazz band, as well as students Sol Kim (violin jazz), Grace Owens (singing At Last), and MacKenzie Zilkowski and Hannah Forde (singing a duet).
Local musician, Brennan Sincliar, will also be performing, and Stuart Young will be playing the grand piano as people arrive.
Band teacher, Kevin Biegel, is hoping to raise $1,400. The event will bring in funds to help cover the travel costs for some students who would not otherwise be able to attend due to financial reasons.
The trip is scheduled for April where two of the school’s bands, the jazz band and the concert band, will be performing at an elementary school and taking a clinic at UVic.
There will also be a silent auction and bake sale at the fundraiser concert.
An Evening of Jazz takes place Wednesday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at Sardis secondary. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and show will go until about 8:45 p.m. with an intermission.
Tickets are $5 at the door.
