Bozzini's presents two great artists on March 17 for two shows.

Come and discover the gritty blues of Fresno, California’s Lance Canales, who will be making his Canadian debut that night, as well as special guest Rob Moir of Toronto.

Lance Canales was born and raised in an agricultural community in the southern foothills of California's San Joaquin Valley where he literally lived the life so many folk and blues artists have written songs about since the birth of roots music, hard labour, one-room shacks and taunting ghosts whispering of a better life, owning nothing but the music in your head.

It would take years for Canales to connect his history to his own sound — branded ‘Native Americana’ by fans — tuning down his smooth yet gravelly vocals, compared to the likes of music legends Tom Waits and Greg Brown, as he tuned up his acoustic guitar to slip and slide in delta swamp water while executing a clean picking style.

In the spring of 2008, album These Hands was released. On These Hands he was able to take his time and dig deep, really exploring his place in music. Songs like "Aboriginal alien' and 'Ruin' conjuring up the spirits of his past.

Now, signed to Music Road Records, Canales is able to share his music with the world.

Toronto’s Rob Moir looks back at two consecutive years of life on the road with the release of his album Adventure Handbook in 2015.

In the vein of timeless artists (and muses) like Bruce Springsteen, The Replacements and Jeff Tweedy, Moir’s songs are honest and exceedingly entertaining to see live. He continues to routinely finesse clever turns of phrase in his lyrics. The opening track 'New Years Eve' shows hope on the horizon, with 'Run For Your Life' and 'Ports Of Call' illuminating the excitement of doing what you love on an unknown course.

Moir released his first solo EP in 2010 called This Is The Lie, then came the critically acclaimed LP Places To Die in 2013.

Since then, he’s toured Europe with Neko Case and shared the stage with fellow alt-folk artists such as Frightened Rabbit, Frank Turner and The White Buffalo. With past solo performances at international festivals; NXNE, CMW, BIGSOUND and multiple successful tours in Australia, Canada, Europe, UK and USA, Moir has proven his ability to silence rowdy audiences with his intimate performances, quick humour, and captivating stage presence.

Perpetually on the lonesome road, Moir continues to expand his audience as he perform his songs across the world, making fans the old fashion way, one dedicated believer at a time.

Lance Canales and Rob Moir (double bill) is at Bozzini's Upstairs Lounge on Friday, March 17 for two shows: early show at 6 p.m. (doors at 4 p.m.), late show at 9 p.m. (doors at 8 p.m.). Tickets $18-20 at Bozzini’s or call 604-792-0744 to reserve.
