Organizers with the Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival are looking for two key volunteers to help out with next year’s event.

“Chilliwack is down a Dance Leader and is looking for some help to make this year feasible and enjoyable for all,” said Laurie Hirschman, festival registrar.

They are ideally looking for a parent or teacher who has some festival and organizational experience.

There are student volunteers who will be helping out, but the Dance Leader would supervise the young volunteers as they handle music, trophies, dancer lineups and help sooth competitors who have things happen that cannot be foreseen, like recording or wardrobe malfunctions. Being able to fill in for a missing writer would also be an asset.

There is an honorarium of $35 for each session worked for 2022 and lunch is supplied on site when a full day is worked.

They do have two people who can help out with the position, but one can only work weekends and the other can’t fill all of the daily sessions.

“We really need some more help,” Hirschman said.

They are also looking for an interim Piano Coordinator and, above all, a replacement for Hirschman.

“Hopefully the willing person is also fully vaccinated for their own protection and they would be required to wear a mask at all times.”

Those interested can contact Hirschman at 604-858-3147 or clcmdf2021@gmail.com.
