Admission at Science World is free this Sunday, May 7, in celebration of Emergency Preparedness Week.
The popular facility, on the False Creek waterfront in Vancouver, is open that day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Those in attendance can take part in interactive activities and visit display booths both inside and outside of Science World, to learn about emergency preparedness from local scientists, first responders and emergency preparedness agencies,” says a City of Vancouver press release.
Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson says everyone has a role to play in ensuring community safety and response.
“The City goes to great lengths to prepare and empower our residents to make sure we can respond and recover from natural disasters, earthquakes, and other shocks,” he said.
“As mayor, I can’t stress enough, everyone needs to have an earthquake kit at home and work and be prepared to be on their own for 72 hours in an emergency.”
