Whether you’re looking for a new hobby, wanting to improve your skills, or just looking for a class to inspire your kids, the Centre’s classes are the perfect place to start.

If you’re looking to delve into the world of painting and drawing, Intro to Figure Drawing, Perspective Drawing and Start with Art will leave you with plenty of new techniques. From learning to improve your anatomical drawing skills to learning a variety of art mediums, the drawing and painting classes offered will cover a wide variety where the opportunity to learn something new is seemingly endless.

A two-day Kathleen Raven Pottery Intensive will teach students how to create three-dimensional narrative sculptures. (Submitted)
For the pottery enthusiasts, there’s a selection of classes to build your already existing skills and to learn new ones. Wheel 1: Intro to Wheel guides you through the basics, from centering on the pottery wheel to trimming, glazing and firing. And for those who already have experience, Handbuilding 2: Next Steps with Coils and Slabs will help you learn tips and tricks to taking on more challenging forms with handbuilding. Kathleen Raven Pottery Intensive will be a weekend course that will teach students how to create three-dimensional narrative sculptures.

If you’re wanting to create your own jewellery, the numerous classes offered this fall will leave you more than ready. Some classes teach the art of glass bead making, from Glass Beads 1: Intro, to Glass Beads 3: Advanced Techniques, while another guides you through how to make beautiful fused glass pieces in Glass Fusing 1: Intro.

Those looking to explore the world of fibre arts will be able to explore with Crochet for Beginners, Knitting for Knewbies and Starting Out with Embroidery, and even continue to learn more techniques with Knext Steps in Knitting and Whitework Embroidery.

Of course, there’s something for kids as well so artists of all ages can join in the fun. Start Drawing will guide your kids through drawing the items they see every day and even the people and faces around them, while Mud Slingers and Magic Mud shows children the basics of working with clay and the infinite amount of things they can make with it.

If you’re looking for a creative outlet to practice your art, the Open Glass Studio, Open Clay Studio, Life Drawing Open Studio, and the Painting and Drawing Open Studio offer a space to hone your skills in glass-bead making, drawing and painting, and practice on the wheel or hand-building. The Open Studios are non-instructional sessions and are perfect for anyone short on time with a desire to construct and create.

Registration for all classes is now available. For more information or to register for a class, visit www.chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, call 604-391-SHOW(7469), or stop by the Centre Box Office (9201 Corbould St.).
