If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to drive through Abbotsford’s Tradex, this weekend’s Wings and Wheels event gives you that opportunity.

But it’s not just a basic drive, the event allows attendees the chance to see some of the best collector, antique, hot rod and exotic vehicles from private collections in B.C., as well as vintage airplanes, buses, tractors and 911 vehicles from across the region.

The event, which is in support of the Crystal Gala and presented by 360 Group of Companies, features over 120,000 square feet of vehicles to view and runs on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 per vehicle and can be purchased online.

Guests will view the various vehicles from inside their own cars on a winding journey throughout Tradex.

Some of the recently announced military vehicles confirmed to appear include: a US Army vehicle that was used in Afghanistan and Iraq and a Falkland Islands vehicle that was captured by the 2nd Canadian Battalion (Parachute Regiment) at the Battle for Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands War back in 1982.

There will also be historical B.C. ambulances from the 1950s, the Abbotsford Police Department’s recently restored police car named “Carole”, a 41-ton Russian tank and vehicles associated with television programs such as the Dukes of Hazzard, TJ Hooker, Starsky and Hutch and the movie Smokey and The Bandit.

360 Fabrication President Rick Francoeur says the event will help the Crystal Gala raise funds after other major annual events were cancelled due to the pandemic.

“We wanted to do something that brought people together in a fun, safe way,” Francoeur says.

“Our company has made the Crystal Gala Foundation our charity of choice, and we’ve committed a $100,000 donation to the organization to assist them in funding much needed equipment for assisting in the fight against breast cancer.”

In addition to the drive, there will be several food trucks from the Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival for attendees to check out in the Tradex parking lot.
