Oct. 18 and 19, 2024 • The Chilliwack PieceMakers Quilting Guild's biannual show PieceMaking in the Valley is Friday, Oct. 18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chilliwack Alliance Church (8700 Young Rd.). Oct. 18, 2024 • One-man show God is a Scottish Drag Queen 3 starring award-winning comedian Mike Delamont is coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Oct. 18 at 7:30 pm. This show contains adult material and situations and may not be appropriate for all audiences.

Oct. 18, 2024 • The Friday Every Day Café for Seniors event is at the Chilliwack Library on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Seniors can enjoy activities, light refreshments and occasionally special guests. On Oct. 18 the topic is ‘Get to Know Your Library’ (for Library Month). Learn about all the library has to offer from digital resources to Playground items. This is a drop-in event.

Oct. 18 and 19, 2024 • The Floral Artists of the Fraser Valley is hosting a floral competition at the Chilliwack Mall on Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 19. The title of this year's fall show is Autumn Symphony and the floral exhibits will be on display from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Oct. 19, 2024 • Chilliwack District Girl Guides is hosting its Rocktober Music Trivia Fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Skwah Community Centre (30 Landing Dr.). This event will raise money for the Girl Guides Quebec 2025 patrol which is made up of 14 youth and three adults who will be going to Quebec City, Montreal and Ottawa. Join music trivia host Darren Kennedy who will take people on a musical journey to decide who is the Rocktober Music Trivia champion with prizes for first, second and third place teams. Register solo, with a friend, or with a team up to five people. All teams will consist of five people max — solo and partial teams will band together to form a new alliance. Oct. 19 and 20, 2024 • All About Expos presents its Train and Hobby Show at Chilliwack Heritage Park on Oct. 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Admission is $6 (two-day wristband), and it's free admission for kids aged five and under. For more, go to allaboutexpos.com.

Oct. 19, 2024 • Chilliwack multi-genre author Frank Talaber and science fiction author Jeff Laschuk are having a book signing event at Dicken’s Sweets and Vintage Market (45945 Alexander Ave.) on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Oct. 19, 2024 • It's Pumpkin Fest at Greendale Acres on Oct. 19. The day includes: the giant Atlantic pumpkin weigh-off at 2 p.m., face painting from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and live music from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They're located at 41905 Yale Rd. W. For more, go to greendaleacres.ca.

Oct. 20, 2024 • The Shire of Lionsdale, the local branch of the Society of Creative Anachronism, invites one and all to the St. Crispin’s Festival at the Atcheliz Hall (6542 Lickman Rd.) on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Witness armoured combat, Bardic performance arts, historical crafts, archery, rapier (fencing) and more. People can try their hand at archery and thrown weapons (knife, axe and spear). There are also local merchants selling hand-made wares.

Oct. 20, 2024 • Celebrity impersonator Bonnie Kilroe will be at the Sardis Library to entertain seniors on Oct. 20 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This afternoon of free entertainment is in partnership with the Sardis United Way.

Oct. 20, 2024 • The Perennial Exchange and Seed Swap by the Chilliwack Garden Club is at Gwynne Vaughan Park (46181 Hope River Rd.) on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Bring a plant or plants, and take a number and then there's a draw for who gets first, second pick, etc. There are always some interesting plants and lots of seeds to choose from. Everyone is welcome. Coffee will be provided, snacks to share.

Oct. 21, 2024 • It’s Bad Art Night at the Chilliwack Library on Monday, Oct. 21 from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Release your creative spirit and create some silly, surprising and creative artwork with no pressure to make it “good.” All materials will be provided and examples will be on display to inspire you. Registration required. For ages 19+.

Oct. 22 to Dec. 10, 2024 • The Chilliwack Library hosts STEAM Tween Tuesdays once a month for kids in Grades 4 to 7. Sessions run from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 22, Nov. 19, and Dec. 10. Oct 22: Climate action week – build a model of your own sustainable, climate-friendly town. Nov. 19: Binary coding – learn the language of computers. We will show you how to add in binary numbers and how to spell your name in binary form using beads. Dec 10: Zipline reindeer – examine the effects of friction, gravity and air resistance on a reindeer as they are raced against each other.

Oct. 23, 2024 • 'Hope for the Hope Slough' is an open house event with desserts and slough info on Oct. 23 at Camp River Hall. This free event offers attendees a chance to learn something about slough history, Pelolxw culture and traditional usage, current issues, restoration work and future plans. Oct. 23 and 30, 2024 • On Wednesday, Oct. 23 and 30, the Chilliwack Jets will be at the Sylvan Learning Centre of Chilliwack to read their favourite books. People can also bring a book for the Jets to read. It’s happening at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 and 30 at 200-45935 Airport Rd. There will be photo opportunities and autographs with the Jets. Oct. 23 to Nov. 23, 2024 • The Chilliwack Visual Artists Association presents Baring, Daring, Sharing, an exhibition about artists, their artwork, and the models who inspire them. The show runs Oct. 23 to Nov. 23 in the O'Connor Group Art Gallery at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre. Opening reception is Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. from Wednesday to Saturday.

Oct. 23, 2024 • Latria, a collective worship evening is Wednesday, Oct. 23 at St. Thomas Church (46048 Gore Ave.). The night will feature musicians Danielle and Drew McTaggart, and communion with Rev. Lorie Martin. It starts at 7 p.m. and it is a drop-in event.

Oct. 24, 2024 • The Vancouver Chamber Music Society will perform Schubertiade, a concert dedicated to Franz Schubert on Oct. 24 at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $32, with Patron Program discounts available, and can be purchased at the Centre Box Office, online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469).

Oct. 24, 2024 • Celebrate the music of Franz Schubert when the Vancouver Chamber Music Society presents Schubertiade at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $32 and available at the cultural centre, online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca or by calling 604-391-SHOW (7469).

Oct. 25 to 27, 2024 • The Fraser Valley Women's Expo returns to Chilliwack Heritage Park from Oct. 25 to Oct. 27. There will be 150 vendor booths featuring fashion, jewelry, cosmetics, wellness products, local artisans, food and more. Hours: 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $9, or $15 for a full weekend pass. For more, go to fvwomensexpo.com.

Oct. 25, 2024 • It's Grandparents' Day on Oct. 25 at Greendale Acres. Grandparents visit free accompanied by a grandchild paying general admission or a child with a membership. They're located at 41905 Yale Rd. W. For more, go to greendaleacres.ca.

Oct. 25, 2024 • The Mount Cheam Lions hosts their monthly spaghetti dinner on Friday, Oct. 25 at the Lions Club Hall (45580 Spadina Ave.). The cost is $10 and includes spaghetti, garlic toast, tea or coffee, and dessert. It goes from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Oct. 26, 2024 • Dog-friendly Halloween event 'Doggo-Ween' is at Sardis Sports Field (located at Britton Avenue and Vedder Road) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. The day will start with a pack walk, followed by activities including a costume contest for dogs, agility course, ball pit, photo booth with props, plus dog-training advice. Dogs will even have the chance to dive for treats in a small pool filled with water. This free event is hosted by K9 At Your Side and will be held in partnership with United Way BC. 

Oct. 26, 2024 • The second annual Mrs. Roper Romp is happening in Chilliwack on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. This event will see a group of adults dressed up in wigs and caftan dresses in honour of Helen Roper from the 1970s sitcom Three's Company. This is a public event where the ‘Helens’ will do a four-pub walk through District 1881. For more info, go to facebook.com/events/421094834311894.

Oct. 26, 2024 • The Chilliwack Metropolitan Orchestra presents Fall Cornucopia on Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre. Oct. 26, 2024 • Chilliwack Prom Night Massacre, a thrilling Halloween event where sophistication meets the supernatural, is Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Landing Sports Centre from 7 p.m. to midnight. This 19+ event is hosted by Sonic Bark Vinyl Co. and features: performances by the Kids in the Ball, DJ Darren spinning haunting beats, flash tattoos, catered food, beer, cotton candy and merchandise. Dress in spooky attire for a chance to win in the costume contest. Tickets are $40 and available at sonicbark.ca/pages/haunted-prom.

Oct. 26, 2024 • A community barbecue that's part of the annual Purple Light Nights campaign is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vedder Elementary School. The month-long campaign is a reminder that there is zero tolerance for domestic violence. The barbecue is rain or shine and will include live music, face painting, and members of the Chilliwack Fire Department who will cook up the barbecue lunch. There will be information and support available at the event.

Oct. 26, 2024 • Halloween concert and costume party ‘Creepin’ It Real’ is at the Chill House (45910 Alexander Ave.) on Saturday, Oct. 26. The event features the following bands: Like Bears, Transitional Alien, and Tayos. There will be a cash prize for best costume. This is an all ages event and tickets are $15 (door sales only - cash/debit/credit). Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Oct. 26, 2024 • Don't miss the Halloween giveaway at Chilliwack Alliance Church (8700 Young Rd.) on Oct. 26 where Clothes2u will be giving away clothes (baby to adult), plus toys, diapers, incontinence items, linens, personal and smaller household items all for free. Entry fee is $5 cash, kids 10 and under no charge. People can take as much as they need. Event hours are 10 a.m. to noon. Oct. 27 to Nov. 2, 2024 • The annual Rotary Book Sale is at Chilliwack Heritage Park from Sunday, Oct. 27 to Saturday, Nov. 2. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The sale, presented by the Rotary Club of Chilliwack, raises funds for both community and international projects.

Oct. 27, Nov. 3 and Dec. 13, 2024 • The Candlelight concerts, featuring a local string quartet illuminated by thousands of candles, are coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre for six performances over three evenings. On Oct. 27, the quartet will be performing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and more. On Nov. 3, it's 'A Tribute to Taylor Swift' and on Dec. 13, people will hear 'A Tribute to Coldplay on Strings.' Oct. 28, 2024 • The Sardis Library is having its Halloween Puzzle Contest on Monday, Oct. 28 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Come in costume and enjoy some fun Halloween-themed competition. Register as a team of up to four or sign up individually and we will do our best to add you to a team. Prizes will be awarded for best costume and to the team that completes the puzzle fastest. The 500 piece puzzle is best suited for adults, however, children under 10 and up can register if they are accompanied by an adult. Registration required, call or drop by the library to sign up.

Oct. 28 and 29, 2024 • There will be two nights of rockin' blues on Oct. 28 and 29 with the JW Jones Trio at Bozzini’s Upstairs Lounge. Jones, a Canadian singer-guitarist, is a Billboard Top 10 Blues Artist, 2020 International Blues Challenge winner, and JUNO nominee. He is known for his high-energy shows. The JW Jones Trio performs on Oct. 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets $36.75. Oct. 29, 2024 • Two libraries will be hosting a Halloween story time on Oct. 29. Halloween Skele-bration Storytime is at the Chilliwack Library from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Don’t miss out on this fang-tastic Halloween adventure. Feel free to come in costume for an evening of stories and crafty fun. Children may need assistance from their adult for craft assembly. And at the Sardis Library, it’s Halloween Evening Storytime from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Put on your favourite costume and join staff in the LaBOOatory for some spooky science, stories and a craft.  Both are drop-in events.

Oct. 30, 2024 • The Art of Reading is coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. Bibliophiles are invited to unwrap a surprise book, find a new reading adventure, and meet fellow book-lovers at this event. Oct. 30 to Dec. 18, 2024 • Love to read and talk about books? Join the monthly BeTween Book Club to read books, have lively discussions, eat snacks and meet other book lovers. Recommended for ages nine to 12. It’s at the Chilliwack Library: Wednesdays, Oct. 30 (The Secret of Nightingale Wood by Lucy Strange), Nov. 27, and Dec. 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 31, 2024 • The Chilliwack Restorative Justice & Youth Advocacy Association is hosting Accessible Halloween Village on Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Central Elementary School (9435 Young Rd.). Enjoy hot beverages, food trucks and more. Vendors will be handing out free treats (including nut-free), ensuring a fun and safe trick-or-treating experience for all. Oct. 31, 2024 • Greendale Acres is hosting a Halloween parade and dance on Oct. 31. Come dressed in costume and parade throughout the farm. After the parade, there will be a Halloween-themed dance party. All participants can grab a handful of candy at the end of the dance party. Nov. 1, 2024 • The Ghost and Ghouls Gala, featuring Alice Cooper tribute band 'See Alice' and special guest Sanctuary, is at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Nov. 1 at 6:45 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.). There will be prizes for best costume, and the event is presented by Port Moody Jamz. They are accepting non-perishable items for the Salvation Army Food Bank. Nov. 1 and 2, 2024 • The second annual Chilliwack Puzzle Sale benefiting the Salvation Army Food Bank is Friday, Nov. 1 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. The sale will be at Central Community Church at 46100 Chilliwack Central Rd.

Nov. 1 to 3, 2024 • The Vintage Barn Market returns to Chilliwack Heritage Park on Nov. 1, 2 and 3. The weekend features 150 booths, swag bags, door prizes, plus handmade, vintage and modern gifts. For more, go to thevintagebarnmarket.ca.

Nov. 1, 2024 • Join certified drum facilitator Rhonda Bruce for Rhythm Riot with Rhonda, a fun and interactive program at the Chilliwack Library on Friday, Nov. 1 from 11 a.m. to noon. African, Cuban and frame drums will be provided. This is suitable for all abilities and for anyone aged six and older. Registration is required. Call or drop by the library to sign up.

Nov. 2 and Nov. 16, 2024 • Time to brave the dungeons and slay the dragons with 'Dungeons & Dragons for Teens' at the Chilliwack Library. It's happening on Saturday, Nov. 2 and Nov. 16 from noon to 4 p.m. These sessions are geared towards experienced players. Light refreshments will be provided. Registration required, for ages 13 to 18.  

Nov. 3, 2024 • Join Streams Foundation Canada for Diwali: Festival of Lights - Community Celebration at the Sardis Library on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Discover the rich traditions and history behind Diwali, enjoy a taste of traditional cuisine, and take in the colourful decorations, music, and cultural dance performances by Priya Chawla and team. This free event is open to everyone.

Nov. 9, 2024 • The Comedy Department presents 'Middle Aged Boy Band: The Comeback You Didn’t Know You Needed' at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $44 (early bird $39) and available at the cultural centre, online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca or by calling 604-391-SHOW (7469).

Nov. 9 and 10, 2024 • NWO Roller Derby presents its annual Daze of Derby fundraiser tournament on Nov. 9 and 10 at the Landing Sports Centre (45530 Spadina Ave.). This is a full weekend of fast-paced, hard-hitting roller derby action where there will be 12 teams from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Washington State participating. There will also be raffles, 50/50 draws, vendors, and food trucks. The first whistle is at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday. Nov. 9, 2024 • Creators Coven presents Creators CreepMas on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Evergreen Hall in Chilliwack. This is a curated art market of more than 60 alternative vendors, live DJ sets by No Name No Slogan, and live performances by Cirque Des Morts, Jessica Roh and Jacqueline Tyracek. There will be a coffee shop, booze bar, food truck and raffle for charity. The art market runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and the art market with live performances runs 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Market only is $5 (no in-and-out privileges) up til 6 p.m. An all-day pass is $10 which includes the live performances and in-and-out privileges for the day. The giant raffle draw includes of a donation from all 60 artists and vendors. The raffle draw is at 8 p.m., and the prize must be picked up by 9:30 p.m. There will also be two $50 "coven buck" giveaways throughout the evening market for the all-day pass holders.

Nov. 10, 2024 • The second annual Fraser Valley Record Fair is Sunday, Nov. 10 at the Princess Armouries. This is the Fraser Valley's largest vinyl record, CD and music memorabilia fair. Browse more than 50 tables of music and music-related items curated by collectors from across B.C. Those who would like to be a vendor can email fraservalleyrecordfair@gmail.com. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 45707 Princess Ave. There will be a food truck on site. Admission is $2 at the door.

Nov. 15-17, 2024 • The Chilliwack Christmas Craft Market returns to Chilliwack Heritage Park from Friday, Nov. 15 to Sunday, Nov. 17. It will feature a wide range of artisan products, including locally designed clothing, homemade gourmet treats, handcrafted art, and artisanal spirits. Hours: Nov. 15 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission: $7 for adults, and free for children under 12. Parking is by donation.

Nov. 15, 2024 • Corporeal Imago presents Throe, a show of aerial acrobatics, contemporary dance and visual theatre at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $49 with discounts for those in the Patron Program and available at the cultural centre, online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca or by calling 604-391-SHOW (7469).

Nov. 23, 2024 • Rally in the Chilliwack River Valley is a fundraiser event to raise money for Chilliwack River Valley residents who were affected by the 2021 floods. The event will include music by Jeff Bonner of Tractorgrease, CR Avery, and Headlong Hearts. There will also be a wine wall, a silent auction and a 50/50 draw. NOW to January 2025 • The opening reception for Stó:lō Salish weaving exhibit 'Salish Story Weavings of S'olh Temexw' is at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. The exhibit is curated by Joy Hall. The display features intricate designs and profound narratives woven into each piece made by the following Sto:lo Salish weavers: Teqwotenot, Frieda George (master weaver); Poleqtanot, Saylesh Wesley; Teqwotenot, Roxanne Dool; and Gwasgwasinek, Natalie Jimmie. The exhibit celebrates the rich cultural heritage, oral histories, and transformation stories of Sólh Téméxw (Our Land) and the Stó:lō people. Emcee Á'a Líya Warbus will explain the cultural journey of the woven pieces. It will be on display until January.

NOW to June 2025 • The Chilliwack Rhythm Reelers, a non-profit modern social square dance group, is starting beginner classes on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at Atchelitz Hall (6542 Lickman Rd.). Classes take place every Friday from September 2024 to June 2025. The lessons are filled with fun, fitness and friendly people. Having a partner is not necessary. The group is made up of a diverse age range of dancers. Teens are welcome, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

The Chilliwack Chess Club meets twice a week where chess aficionados can connect, learn, and engage in friendly matches. It is open to everyone from beginners to grand masters. First Saturday of each month • Very Very Improv Theatre, a professional company based in the Fraser Valley, has monthly performances at CoWork Chilliwack. Scott Campbell is leading a company of talented improvisers from across the Lower Mainland including Chilliwack-based comedian Cliff Prang.
