WATCH: Fight Night fundraiser helps Chilliwack Crusaders, rugby students

Chilliwack Rugby Society brought in nearly $10,000 from its seventh annual Fight Night fundraiser

The Chilliwack Rugby Society brought in nearly $10,000 from its seventh annual Fight Night amateur boxing fundraiser at Tzeachten Hall on Saturday.

Chilliwack Boxing Club helped train many of the 16 fighters, including Landry Winkles, Cassidy Lanting, Bret Armstrong, and Mitch D’Odorico..

About $2,000 of the money raised will go towards rugby bursaries for male and female rugby players from G.W. Graham, Sardis secondary, and Chilliwack secondary, while the rest will help pay for the society’s field rentals and league fees.

The society currently has one men’s team, the Chilliwack Crusaders, and is looking to add a U-18 and U-16 team in the fall.

The Crusaders are second in the B.C. Rugby league with a 6-2 record. For more, check them out on Instagram and Facebook.
