Volunteers needed to help fill food bank shelves

Volunteers are needed for the Salvation Army's summer donation drive.

The Salvation Army is looking for a hand this weekend as it works to restock shelves at the Chilliwack Food Bank.

Cash donation kettles will be set up at 12 locations throughout the city. The aim is to raise $15,000 to replenish food bank supplies that traditionally run low during the summer months.

Hunger for those in need is a reality year round, says the Sally Ann’s Ian Pratt, “and July is often a time of year that those in need are forgotten about due to our busy lives.”

Volunteers are still needed to staff the kettles, he adds. Help is needed for two hour or four hour shifts on Saturday, July 6.

To volunteer contact Don Armstrong at 604.792.0001.
