Help is needed more than ever this year for the 2020 Poppy Campaign.

The local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is looking for volunteers to help with the delivery of its poppy boxes and restocking them.

Kim MacLeod and Betty Murphy, co-chairs of the campaign, put the call out on the Branch 4 Facebook page Thursday.

“Because of COVID-19 this year is going to be a difficult one; your help is really needed more than ever,” the letter reads.

“There are different ways to help and the more people that participate the lighter the work for everyone. We need volunteers to deliver poppy boxes throughout the community. People are also needed to replenish and restock poppies and supplies.”

Every year, money raised from the Poppy Campaign is used within the community to support those in need. Helping veterans, their dependents, seniors, Chilliwack General Hospital and with disaster relief are some of the ways the funds are used.

The Poppy Campaign runs from Oct. 30, to Nov. 11, 2020.

Those interested in helping out with this year’s Poppy Campaign can look for the sign-up sheets in the branch (9350 Mary St.), or call and leave your name and phone number on the poppy room phone at 604-392-1918, or the branch office at 604-792-2337.
