Central elementary will hit its 90th anniversary this fall, and a volunteers for the festivities are organizing now.
A planning meeting is set for Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the downtown Chilliwack school. Anyone who wants to help with the celebration is being asked to attend the meeting. It will be a “quick intake” says organizer Clara Hooper, with idea sharing and an introduction session.
Central is Chilliwack’s oldest existing school, and opened on Oct. 21, 1929 on Young Road. A similar reunion-style celebration five years ago drew out students from some of the school’s earliest years, and included entertainment, tours, history displays.
For those who would like to help but aren’t able to attend the meeting, call Hooper at 604-795-1669 or email centralturns90@shaw.ca.
