View cell block and more during open house at Chilliwack RCMP detachment

Public can learn how police use tools, techniques to keep community safe during free family-friendly event

The public will be able to see inside the Chilliwack RCMP detachment, including the cell block, at an upcoming open house.

The free family-friendly event, where people can learn about the different police tools, techniques and resources used to help keep the community safe, is set for Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 45924 Airport Rd.

The day includes:

  •     Tours of the main detachment including the cell block
  •     Barbecue provided by the Chilliwack Fire Department (by donation)
  •     Sgt. Safety Bear
  •     Photo opportunities with members in red serge
  •     Integrated Police Dog Services (IPDS), Pipes Drum Band, BC Highway Patrol, Explosives Disposal Unit, Crime Stoppers, Cops for Cancer and many more
  •     Police vehicles including: police cars, motorcycles, ATV, and canoe
  •     Activities for kids including face painting

The events will be held outside with the exception of the detachment tours. Parking will be available in the detachment parking lots, and folks can enter from the end of Kiernan Drive.
