Spirit of the People Pow Wow a celebration of culture and competition in Chilliwack.

Thousands felt the spirit during the three-day Spirit of the People Pow Wow in Chilliwack over the weekend.

The event drew dancers, drummers and singers from across North America in a celebration of culture and competition.

The rainy weather on Friday gave way to a better day Saturday, allowing visitors (some from as far away as Australia) a chance to enjoy the performances and browse through the many vendors on display.

The event took place at the Tzeachten Sports Field.

Organizer Gary Abbott said the pow wow marked the first time in a couple of years that Sto:lo organizers  presented a competition style event.
