Local club approaches the century mark

The oldest sports club in town started its 97th season with a lawn bowling tradition as players saw who could bowl closest to the golden bowl.

City Councillor Ken Popove threw out the Chilliwack Lawn Bowling Club’s ceremonial bowl, and member Adele Schroeder won the competition at the start of her second season playing the game.

Next up for the club: an open house event on May 26 from 1 to 4 p.m.
