Two local Scouts will be collecting items this weekend for a good cause.

The two Scouts, Erika and Emily from the 6th Chilliwack Troop, will be at the Cottonwood Mall on Sunday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

They are looking for clothing that is in good condition, along with items that are commonly in need. The clothing and items will go to the Cyrus Centre, which cares for homeless youth in Chilliwack, and the Salvation Army.

The donation drive was the Scouts’ idea, and will help them work toward their Chief Scout Award.

The clothing should be new or in good condition, and include things like socks (new, preferably ankle socks for the summer), hair elastics and brushes, pajama bottoms and basic plain t-shirts (new), new boxers and underwear in teenage sizes, deodorant and body wash.

Items that the Cyrus Centre regularly needs are items such as toilet bowl cleaner, surface cleaners, bleach, dishwasher pods, toilet paper, large garbage bags, cereal, food wraps and laundry detergent.

For more information about the donation drive, email scoutsclothingdrive@gmail.com, or call 604-815-7385.
