There are two more days left in Turn Down the Heat Week.

Chilliwack Downtown BIA and local merchants have been collecting sweaters for the needy, as well as wearing a sweater, as a creative way of conserving energy.

“The objective of 'Turn Down the Heat Week' is to make everyone more aware of energy consumption — and what can be done to reduce it — while collecting sweaters for those in our communities who can really use them," said Kathy Funk, Downtown Chilliwack BIA executive director.

Turn Down The Heat Week runs Feb. 2 to 9.

Several downtown merchants are participating such as Button Box, Harvest Café, Teddy Bear Dreams, Shaw Cable, Lolly's, District Pub and more.

They're collecting sweaters, but also hats, gloves and scarves for donation to Ruth & Naomi's Mission.

Turn Down the Heat Week is a partnership between FortisBC and Business Improvement Areas of B.C. (BIABC) who teamed up for the first time to promote energy conservation in this novel way.
