Donning full hazmat suits, goggles and booties, the principal and vice principal at one Chilliwack elementary school were ready for whatever came flying at them.

And that thing was whipped cream. Plate after plate of whipped cream.

Principal Jim Edgcombe and vice principal Devin Atkins of Leary Integrated Arts and Technology elementary school sat side-by-side as one student after another came up and tossed plates of cream at them on Friday (June 11).

It was all part of the school’s ‘pie the principal’ fundraiser for Cops for Cancer.

Students could buy tickets ($2 for one pie, $5 for three pies) which gave them access to pie either Edgcombe, Atkins, or both.

The fundraiser brought in a total of $861.90 for the Tour de Valley team in the Cops for Cancer fundraiser.

Additionally, two local officers including corrections officer Sean Eno, will be shaving their heads at Leary next week with funds also going to the cause.
